"The Commission has many resources that are available to assist local programs. Some of these resources can be downloaded from this site, while others may be requested from the Commission office.

The N.C. Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service is pleased to present its 2008 Speaker's Bureau. More than 20 of the Commissioners are available for speaking engagements such as volunteer recognition ceremonies, informational meetings and other events. If you would like to arrange for a Commissioner to speak at your organization, please contact Will Lindsay, Executive Director of the Commission, at 1-800/820-4483.

The Unified State Plan is a three-year document that provides a vision for the development of volunteer and community service programs in the State of North Carolina. Developed from feedback gleaned from 16 regional meetings, the USP is a collaborative effort to mobilized community resources to address community concerns. The History of Volunteerism in the State of North Carolina follows the history of neighbors helping neighbors through the development of structured volunteer programs as an integral component for delivering quality services. The Handbook is available for $5.00 from the Commission office. The Commission's Handbook for Volunteer Management is a step by step manual for operating an effective volunteer program. Cost is $5.00 and includes shipping costs. The Handbook is available upon request. Email us to order the Handbook for Volunteer Management, volcommission@ncmail.net. An invoice will accompany your Handbook.

Funded by the Commission, the Department of Public Administration at North Carolina Central University published Volunteerism in North Carolina: A Survey in September 2001. The purpose of the study was to determine the extent of Volunteerism in the State of North Carolina, focusing on factors that motivate or discourage volunteer activities, demographic characteristics of volunteers, and the types of activities and organizations in which volunteers are involved.
