Disaster Response - Donated Goods

People sorting donated goodsEveryone is moved when they hear the news that disaster has struck a community. Earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, and other types of disasters can suddenly change the life of a family, community and country. Donated goods have become vital to disaster response and recovery. The Commission is proud to be the State Emergency Response Team partner that leads the effort for collecting and distributing items to meet the needs of survivors in the aftermath of a disaster.

By partnering with the NC Division of Emergency Management and members of NC Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster, the Commission has developed guidelines and a process for managing donated goods that has helped many North Carolina families get their lives back to normal after a disaster.
